Nicola Faenza, something now moves
a valuable testimony from Latimer
G them "appeals" that periodically launched by this column, sometimes they are hosted. A few weeks ago, hinting that all'opportinità approfondisse research modugnese musician Nicola Faenza (1842-1927). And something moved. Latimer wrote to me from Mrs. Victoria disgust, president of the House-museum of horror-Petrosillo Latimer. The great-grandfather of Mrs.
disgust, revulsion, the magistrate Angelo (1829-1907) was indeed "beloved poet and many of his poems were set to music by Nicola Faenza, over a friendly artistic partnership over many years.
Mrs. disgust led, for about fifteen years now, all the research available on merit, with the discovery of more than a score of 2004 and October prommosse a concert of songs found, in concert that took place in the house Latimer-museum and was replicated at Palazzo Jatta in Ruvo (family related to the Faenza).
concert - starring the tenor and the pianist Aldo Gallone Tina Fox-documentation remains a stimulating sound: it was actually made a CD that collects eight of live recordings made in part by P. Latimer Forleo and partly Ruvo, of course, by G. Jeff Smith, whose work "amateur" sio must now, while many real musical events in Puglia are not only delivered to the memory of those who attended. The tracks of Nicola Faenza are five: a nocturne for piano, and Romance (three texts Angelo disgust and a text by Giuseppe Apicella). Completing the album is also a piano piece Xavier Faenza (grandson of the composer), and two vocal works by Mercadante and Gastaldi (Faenza to reaffirm the relationship with the Neapolitan school of music and other composers time).
The CD is accompanied by biographical notes of disgust and revulsion Faenza drafted by Mrs. (much more so of a few lines at the time included in the "dictionary," Pasquale Sorrenti) and documented by a historical introduction and an analysis of the recorded tracks, treated with the usual jurisdiction of the musicologist and appreciated Pugliese Matthew Suma (author, remember, a beautiful volume on Mercadante, published by Schena in 1995).
Among other things, cites Mrs. disgust, Faenza always composed a hymn to words by Angelo shudder - "the majesty of King Umberto I of Italy", carried out in Bari on November 20, 1880. The event is documented a poster, but the music has lost track. The research by Victoria
disgust are very valuable, but certainly it can not be considered exhaustive, and who knows where, a few houses Bari of "good families" of the past, at least of those who prefers to keep in great detail the "old card" no ideas about anything!
